NEW DELHI, At least two persons have died due to monkey fever in India’s southern state of Karnataka so far this year, said media reports on Monday.
The two deceased were identified as an 18-year-old girl and a 79-year-old man. At present there were a total of 49 positive cases in the state, said an online report by the Hindustan Times.
The disease, which is also known as Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD), is a viral hemorrhagic disease that was first identified in 1957 in the Kyasanur Forest in the Western Ghats of India.
