Self love refers to the beautiful and most important relationship with yourself. Self-love isn’t selfish or self-centered, it acknowledges your basic worth. To love yourself is not just a self-esteem boosting piece of advice but also the prerequisite to truly loving others.
Self love is something that is unique to each individual. To me, it simply means accepting yourself, being aware of your feelings and what makes you feel better from within. It helps you change your mindset regardless of what’s happening around you. You have a totally positive view of yourself, when you actually love yourself.
Why is Self Love Important?
You are the only person that’s with you at every moment and only you know about your thoughts and feelings. So, the opinion of random people should not affect you. Self-love helps you make yourself your own biggest fan. It’s a secret tool to live a fulfilling life because your inner world creates your outer world.
5 Basics of Self Love
Forgive Yourself: Every one of us makes mistakes whether it’s in finances, personal decisions, and so on . Rather than demotivating ourselves we must take it as a great lesson. Forgiving ourselves for our shortcomings we can redirect our attention to new efforts and new results.
Be Actively Lovable: You don’t need to wait for lovability to happen. All you need to do is just look at the mirror and say “I love you” to yourself several times a day. To maintain the positive self esteem you need to do positive things. Try to participate in the act of kindness, your faith in your lovability will grow and it helps you develop more strength.
Celebrate your worth: Wake up and celebrate your personal victory, both big and small. You need to enjoy every little achievement you have made in your life. And be proud of yourself being brave enough to cross all the obstacles of life with a huge smile on a face.
Be a life couch to yourself: Always try to gently guide yourself to the positive direction. Remind yourself that its never too late to change and think about the step you can take right away to move in a more positive direction.
Spend time with yourself: You are not actually lonely when you are intentionally taking time for yourself. Infact, it is one of the best therapy to connect to yourself and know your worth. Self care often leads to deeper connection with ourselves.
You may struggle at first, but you’ll look back on these moments and see how they were stepping stones on your journey to be the best version of you.
