KATHMANDU,The benchmark index of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) declined by 10.66 points on Thursday—the final trading day of the week—closing at 2,615.03 points.

Total turnover rose to Rs 4.57 billion, higher than Rs 4.05 billion recorded in the previous session. Of the companies traded, 63 advanced, 194 declined, and two remained unchanged, indicating broad market weakness.

Among sectoral indices, the finance sector led the losses, dropping by 1.55 percent, while the hotel and tourism sector remained unchanged. On the positive side, the non-life insurance sector gained 0.22 percent, and the trading sector rose by 0.48 percent.

Most other sectors ended in the red. Banking slipped 0.22 percent, development banks fell 0.12 percent, hydropower declined 0.55 percent, investment lost 0.41 percent, life insurance dropped 0.67 percent, manufacturing and processing eased 0.17 percent, microfinance fell 0.49 percent, and the others sector posted a loss of 1.19 percent.
