Kathmandu, The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the country is currently under the partial influence of western winds. Due to this, fog has covered many areas of the Tarai as well as the valleys. Meanwhile, the Himalayan and high hilly regions are experiencing partly cloudy conditions.

According to the weather forecast, fog is likely to persist in some parts of the Tarai until noon today. The weather will generally remain cloudy in the high hilly and Himalayan regions, partly cloudy in other hilly areas, and mostly clear in the Tarai. There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall at one or two places in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

Similarly, fog is expected in some areas of the Tarai tonight. The weather will generally remain cloudy in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces, while the rest of the country will remain mostly clear. Light rain and snowfall may occur at one or two places in the high hilly and Himalayan areas of these provinces.

The Department has also warned that air pollution may remain high in the Tarai and valley areas due to persistent fog and the absence of immediate rainfall. The public and concerned authorities have been urged to remain cautious and take necessary safety measures during adverse weather conditions.
