Dhangadhi, A total of 118 inmates who escaped from Kailali Prison during the Gen-Z protests on September 9 have returned.

According to Jailor Chiranjeevi Sapkota, 15 female inmates reported back to the prison just on Sunday.

The inmates began returning after the prison administration issued a public notice urging all escapees to come back.

Some were also apprehended by police while attempting to flee. Sapkota informed that two inmates were arrested in Dang, two in Darchula, and two more in Bajhang. Those injured during their escape are currently undergoing treatment.

Additionally, one Indian national who had escaped has also come back into contact. Police said the search for the remaining escapees is still ongoing.

At the time of the escape, Kailali Prison had 618 inmates. They fled after protesters stormed the facility during the demonstrations.
