Myagdi, A total of 440 households in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality have gained access to clean drinking water this year following the completion of two infrastructure projects.

In Ward No. 7, the new water facility now serves 323 households across Machhim, Shivang, and Hilapokhari. Similarly, 117 households in Ramche, Marangbesi, and Kumri of Ward No. 6 have also benefited.

According to Lokendra Rawal, Head of the Provisional Branch of the Rural Municipality, Rs 23.25 million was invested in the two contract-based projects. Each household has been fitted with metered taps, while the system includes a source intake, storage tanks, and an extensive pipeline network to ensure safe water supply.

Local resident Lal KC of Ward No. 6 said the initiative has eased the burden of fetching water from distant public taps.Under the Machhim, Shivang, Hilapokhari Drinking Water Scheme, water is sourced from the head of Machhim at a cost of Rs 13.63 million. Although the system has passed conservation tests, it will be brought into operation after the rainy season, following the handover to a consumer committee, said Ward Chair Ashok Khatri of Ward No. 7.
