BANDIPUR, Popularly known as the “Queen of the Hills” of Tanahun, Bandipur welcomed 650,000 tourists during Visit Year 2025, marking a major boost to local tourism.
According to Baisha Bahadur Gurung, Coordinator of the Bandipur Visit Year Secretariat, the visitors included 103,000 foreign tourists and 547,000 domestic and Indian tourists. International visitors arrived from Japan, China, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, France, the United States, Germany, Australia, Britain, South Korea and several other countries.
Gurung said the Visit Year campaign played a key role in promoting Bandipur both nationally and internationally. Under the patronage of Bandipur Rural Municipality, tourism promotion programs were conducted across all six wards, not just in Bandipur Bazaar.
Rural Municipality Chairperson Surendra Thapa stated that the long-term goal is to develop all wards of Bandipur into sustainable tourism destinations, positioning it as a major tourism hub in Gandaki Province after Pokhara.
During the year, 24 cultural, literary, and adventure tourism events were organized. Major attractions promoted included Khadgadevi Temple, Thanimai Temple, Mahalaxmi Temple, Siddhagufa, Mani Mukundasen Walk (Mini Great Wall), Tindhara Waterfall, Tundikhel, Mani Mukunda Sen Palace, and Padam Library.
Traditional Bhaktapur-style houses and heritage sites such as Ranivan, Ramkot, Sunkhari, Bindhyavasini Temple and the local Information Center have further enhanced Bandipur’s cultural and historical appeal, drawing increasing numbers of tourists.
