KATHMANDU: Continuous heavy rainfall has triggered landslides that blocked sections of the BP Highway in Kavrepalanchok district after boulders and rocks fell onto the road.

The most affected areas include Chaukidanda in Namobuddha Municipality-6 and several points in Roshi Rural Municipality, such as Charsai Bensi (Ward-7), Biruwadanda (Ward-9), Boksekuna, Narke, and Dalabensi (Ward-11).

According to DSP Rabin Bista of the District Police Office, both lanes of the highway are currently impassable, and efforts are ongoing to clear debris and restore traffic movement.

To prevent accidents, the local administration has restricted vehicle movement, allowing only ambulances and essential services, on the Kavre Bhanjyang–Bhakunde Bensi–Sindhuli section of the BP Highway from Thursday 5 PM to Friday 6 AM.
