KATHMANDU, A new political force has emerged in Nepal as nine parties, including the CPN (Maoist Centre), officially merged to form the ‘Nepali Communist Party’, according to party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota on Tuesday.
The declaration followed the final meeting of the CPN (Maoist Centre) General Convention Organizing Committee. Although the parties had agreed on the pentagon star as their election symbol last Friday, the party’s name was finalized only today.
Sapkota informed that the national convention for party unity will be held on November 5, during which representatives will be confirmed through mutual consensus among all member parties.
He further added that the national general convention of the unified party will be conducted within six months.
“The central committee will be formed through mutual agreement, with provisions for a coordinator and co-coordinator, and this structure will extend to the grassroots level,” Sapkota said.
