Kathmandu, The Narayangadh–Muglin road section has been closed indefinitely after a massive landslide struck near the Tuin Khola bridge on Tuesday evening around 4:45 PM.

The landslide has completely blocked traffic in both directions, causing long queues of vehicles stretching up to Kurintar. The Division Road Office, Bharatpur has advised all drivers and passengers to use alternative routes.

Authorities estimate it will take at least 4–5 days, possibly up to a week, to clear the debris due to the size of the landslide. Work to remove the blockage began Wednesday morning.

Earlier on Friday evening, a similar landslide had obstructed the same road for two days before being cleared. However, heavy rainfall has further weakened the hillside, raising concerns of additional slides and even road collapse.

The closure has caused major difficulties for travelers leaving Kathmandu to celebrate the Dashain festival, as the Narayangadh–Muglin road is one of the country’s main arterial highways.
